Things To Do in Albufeira is an independent guide to one town on the Algarve coast: its beaches, its Old Town, the boats that run west to the Benagil cave, and the countryside behind it. We are not a tour operator and we sell nothing. Start with the best things to do in Albufeira if you have landed here first.
Why this site exists
Search for what to do in Albufeira and you get two kinds of page. One is a booking platform listing forty near-identical boat trips with no way to tell them apart. The other is a listicle that names twenty attractions and gives you no opening hours, no prices and no idea which beach has parking.
This site tries to be the third kind. Every claim on it carries a number: what the museum charges, which Tuesday the market runs, how long a boat can stay inside the Benagil cave, what the Giro bus costs with and without the pass card. Where an activity has a catch, the catch is printed on the page rather than left for the checkout screen.
How the activities are chosen
Nothing appears here because a platform paid for placement. The twelve activities on the homepage were picked against a short list of standards:
- Run by a named operator with a track record, not an anonymous reseller listing
- Enough verified reviews to mean something, and the review count shown on the card
- Clear inclusions and a stated meeting point
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure
- Restrictions stated up front: age limits, weight limits, licence and deposit requirements
Where the facts come from
Prices, ratings, durations, itineraries and restrictions are read off the operators' live listings and updated when the page is revised. Town facts come from the municipality, from Portuguese national sources and from Wikipedia's climate and census data, and they are cited in the text where the number matters.
Prices move with season and demand, and the figure at checkout is the one that counts. If something here has gone stale, tell us and it gets fixed.
How this site pays for itself
The guide is free to read. When you book an activity through a link here, the platform may pay us a commission, and you pay the same price you would have paid going direct. That commission does not decide what gets featured or how anything is ranked, and it never buys a better write-up.

Rita Mendes is an Algarve-based travel writer working out of Faro. She has taken the Benagil boats out of Albufeira marina in April chop and in August calm, walked the Seven Hanging Valleys more times than the trail deserves, and still gets the Caliços market dates wrong about once a year.
